1. Guest-First Architecture: Why No Sign-Up?

Saving a video for offline reference should never require handing over your personal email or remembering another password. donlodvideo uses an encrypted anonymous session (vd_anon) that privately associates your requests with your browser without tracking your identity.

2. The 3-Step Engine

  1. Validation & Metadata Extraction: When you submit a URL, the API validates link safety (blocking private networks and exploits) and reads title, duration, and available codecs.
  2. Format Selection & Durable Queue: You select your desired format. The job is scheduled into our PostgreSQL durable queue (FOR UPDATE SKIP LOCKED).
  3. Worker Ingestion & Secure Delivery: Our background workers download the streams, perform automatic audio-video merging with ffmpeg, and issue a signed download token valid for 10 minutes.

3. 30-Minute Ephemeral Storage

We do not maintain a permanent video archive. All media files are automatically wiped from our server disks 30 minutes after completion. Original URLs are never exposed publicly and are hashed using SHA-256 for short-term caching.
